Annual These plants bloom and die in one year outside.                                                                                                                                
Self-sowing Annual Self-sowing Annual - These plants follow the same cycle as an annual, but will drop seeds fornew plants the following year.                   
Biennial Biennial -These plants follow a  two year cycle with a rosette of leaves the first year, then blooming and dying the second, but usually drop many seeds.
Hardy Perennial Hardy Perennial - These plants will survive winter outside and grow a number of years. Some will die back to the ground and regrow.
Tender Perennial Tender Perennial - These plants generally won't survive an outside winter in our area but usually may be potted and brought inside.
